With Father’s Day on the horizon, this deserves a note, not a good survey, but one that takes a look at where we are, how we feel, and time to think about our loved ones. When you read through here, only one in five adults feel guilty about not seeing their older fathers regularly, and 50 percent would like to keep in contact with them more…well the answer to that is “just do it’. This survey was done in the UK, but the same is alive and well here in the US.
We live in a high paced technological world today and it’s easy to become “disconnected” without even realizing this is happening, so right now, making an effort to “reconnect” is something worth giving some thought to as Father’s Day approaches. BD
Statistics released by Help the Aged and Zurich Community Trust reveal that one in four (3 million) adults admit to being too busy to keep in touch with their older fathers.1 As the number of older men living alone reaches over one million for the first time in Britain, a 21 per cent increase since 2004, the survey also finds that one in five adults (2.5 million) do not contact their older fathers at all (2).
