One of the big changes just like everywhere else in healthcare is integration. It is all open source software and using some nice Web 2.0 applications and now includes a dashboard for easy management and locating program modules and relative information. BD
The National Cancer Institute for Bioinformatics and Information Technology has released for public use version 1.1 of its caBIG Clinical Trials Suite of applications. The open source, free applications have been developed by organizations in the cancer research community. They are part of the "cancer BioMedical Informatics Grid," known as caBIG, a Web-based national network for the community launched in 2007 after several years of testing. The applications being made available support such clinical trials activities as registering and tracking patients; managing patient activities; tracking adverse events; reviewing laboratory data; and analyzing collected data. The applications are intended for use by clinical researchers.
caBIG® Clinical Trials Suite 1.1 Bundle: The caBIG® Clinical Trials Suite 1.1 Bundle is available. Included in the bundle are the modules that comprise the Suite (C3PR, PSC, caAERS, CTODS Lab Viewer, caXchange, and C3D Connector)
This is an announcement of the caAERS 1.5 release, which is a major milestone release included in the caBIG® Clinical Trials Suite 1.1 release. The new and improved functionality within this release is focused on supporting the usage of caAERS as a single repository for all adverse events, support of services allowing real-time data exchange between caAERS and other clinical trial management systems, expanded support of FDA and NCI adverse event reporting requirements, and significant improvements to the user interface by utilizing web 2.0 design principles.
