This is just way too cool, watch the video to see how the unit works.  My first line of thought here is this could have the potential of imagemaybe replacing canes, walkers, etc.  

The fact that it offers some body weight support might even help those with lower back issues as well.  Watch the video to see how it works, amazing technology.  The batteries only go for 2 hours but in today’s world we are used to changing out batteries with our notebook computers all the time anyway.  It has a motor so I wonder if there is much noise that goes along with the unit?  I guess we will hear more about the unit as the testing goes on.  BD 

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today unveiled its second experimental walking assist device that helps support bodyweight to reduce the load on an individual's legs while walking, going up and down stairs, and in a semi-crouching position. The device is designed for people who are capable of walking and maneuvering on their own, but who can benefit from additional leg and body support while performing tasks. Honda will now begin testing the device in real-world conditions to evaluate its effectiveness.

Battery pack - Lithium ion battery
Operating time per charge - 2 hours (including walking and in a semi-crouching posture, etc.)
Suitable height of the user - Within plus or minus 5cm of the set height
