This is a nice grouping of videos recently uploaded, first off George Church, swimming, and talking. I do like that swimming pool, but back on course, the 3 videos below talk to George Church and two of the other participants Rosalyn Gill-Garrison and Dr. John Halamka. The interviews and film footage are very well done and have the same 2 minute introduction, so fast forward the last 2 if you don’t want to see the same intro again. By the way, there’s an effort going on to recruit the next wave and you can read more at the link below.
Personal Genome Project looking for next wave of volunteers for an entire sequencing
In addition, Steve Pinker, another participant was interviewed and discussed in detail (video) with the what he learned from a prior post and more here in text format. Also the new director of the NIH, Francis Collins, has a background based in genomics too, so I think the research will progress quite rapidly. The original project consisted of 1 volunteers and all of the participants agreed to make their results public on the internet. You can search more information on this blog to find out more on where the links are on the web for more information.
Francis Collins named Director - “Cracking the Code” at the NIH
The last video takes a look through the eyes of Dr. Halamka, on what he learned from the experience and you can read more at his blog too as he made several posts on his participation, Life as a Healthcare CIO. He is a doctor as well as being one of the most knowledgeable individuals in healthcare IT today and said himself he will take PSA screenings more seriously as a result of what he found with the interpretation of the genealogist doing the interpretations.
