SMART BEDS...the hospital bed will know everything about you and feed it to the medical records...can't lie about your weight any longer...and will it take my blood pressure too? BD
Cerner Corp. and Hill-Rom Inc., a leading medical equipment supplier, have teamed up to connect intelligent hospital beds to electronic medical records, the companies said Monday.
The strategic relationship is designed to improve and coordinate health care delivery by enabling intelligent hospital beds manufactured by Hill-Rom, a Batesville, Ind., operating company of Hillenbrand Industries, to communicate with Millennium health care software provided by North Kansas City-based Cerner (Nasdaq: CERN).
Specifically, Cerner's CareAware device-connectivity software will enable data -- including patient weight, bed-rail position and head elevation -- to be fed into the Cerner Millennium electronic medical record system, the release said.
