We all read about the “free clinics” that travel into various area of the US and in this area of Pennsylvania there are several ongoing monthly or weekly clinics set up to help people all the time.  They all have phone numbers and locations listed so these regular clinics combine with those of the National Free Clinics and RAM clearly show we are not anywhere to near where we want and need to be in getting healthcare availability for consumers in the US.  If you live in this area, I hope you find this information helpful and churches and schools are the locations listed for many of them.  BD  image

BACK MOUNTAIN FREE MEDICAL CLINIC: 6:30 p.m. Fridays, 65 Davis St., Shavertown. Volunteers, services and supplies needed. For more information, call 696-1 144.

BMW FREE COMMUNITY HEALTH CLINIC: 6-8 p.m., second Thursday, New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church, rear entrance, 780 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Free basic care for people without health insurance and the underserved. Call 822-9605.

CARE AND CONCERN FREE HEALTH CLINIC: Registration 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, former Seton Catholic High School, 37 William St., Pittston. Basic health care and information provided. Call 954-0645.

THE HOPE CENTER: 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Mondays, Back Mountain Harvest Assembly, 340 Carverton Road, Trucksville. Free basic health and medical care and information for the uninsured or underinsured. Call 696-1 128.

VOLUNTEERS IN MEDICINE: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 190 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Primary and preventive health care for the working uninsured and underinsured in Luzerne County with incomes less than two times below federal poverty guidelines. For appointments, call 970-2864.

WILKES-BARRE FREE CLINIC: 4:30-7 p.m. Tuesdays and 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. every other Wednesday, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 35 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre. Appointments are necessary. Call 793-4361.
