LONG BEACH - Police and Health Department officials scored more than 700 pounds of expired and unused prescription medication this weekend as part of the DEA's "National Pharmaceutical Take-Back Initiative."
The pill drop off was held Saturday at the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services.
Long Beach Police Department officers and Health Department employees created a drive-through drop off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that drew a steady stream of motorists needing to dispose of potentially dangerous prescriptions, either unused or expired, said Sgt. Dina Zapalski, an LBPD spokeswoman.
