I would say genomics and personalized medicine is a very hot topic and developing fast, based on 4 machines being ordered from Singapore.  Just this week Stanford university ordered their single sequencing machines from Helicos.  Stay tuned and there’s plenty of sequencing and personalized medicine posts on this blog as well which you can find with a simple search.  Read about the new project from Scripps and other related posts here as well with 10,000 individuals to be given the opportunity to participate.  BD

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Illumina said today that the Genome Institute of Singapore has added four of the company’s genetic sequencers to its sequencing tool shed, tripling its stock to a total of six.

GIS plans to use the new sequencing power for a variety of research projects including the study of transcriptional networks that may be linked to cancer and stem cells.
