This article doesn’t say how the records were being transported, were they electronically or manually stolen?  It just states they were on their way to a storage facility, so is that online storage or a storage barn?  I am guessing they were manually being moved and wonder why this was not done electronically if so?  We remember the big scare in the UK with someone manually transferring medical record information that involved thousands of citizens, so why do people keep manually moving data when it can be done with high levels of encryption?  BD

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. - Medical records for about 100,000 people are missing from a local doctors office. This week, Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates mailed out letters warning patients.

Janice Bounds of Quantico received that letter and at first she thought it was a scam.

But Salisbury police confirm on March 25, three computer data files were stolen en route to a storage facility.
