Small coils made of polyester fibers and metal are inserted through the cervix into each fallopian tube, tissue grows over and creates a imageblockage so sperm cannot get through and the process takes around 3 – 6 months to be complete.

It takes less than 30 minutes and is FDA approved and can be done in the physician’s office; the process is called Essure.    To follow up and make sure the process is a success a Essure Confirmation Test is conducted.  This is permanent sterilization and a choice instead of having your tubes tied as the alternative has been for years.

This makes me think back to a recent article where a 75 million dollar prize and grant was advertised to do the same for animals, and this could be the start for females on the project, so the same for our pets could not be too far down the line too.  BD

Until recently, women who wanted permanent sterilization had only one option: tubal ligation. This surgical procedure closes the fallopian tubes that connect the ovaries to the uterus and prevent sperm from fertilizing a woman’s eggs. Tubal ligation is commonly known as “tying the tubes” and makes a woman permanently sterile, or unable to become pregnant. Surgery is performed in a hospital or outpatient clinic under anesthesia and usually involves cutting into the belly area to burn the tubes shut (called cauterization) or close them off with a small clip. As with any surgery, tubal ligation has risks including bleeding and complications, and recovery can take several days.

  1. Hi,

Essure is a permanent birth control procedure that works with your body to create a natural barrier against pregnancy. This surgical procedure closes the fallopian tubes that connect the ovaries to the uterus and prevent sperm from fertilizing a woman’s edges. Thanks a lot...
