The Healthcare Supply Chain Standards Coalition has merged into the GS1 Healthcare US standards development organization.
This means the 30 organizations that are members of the coalition, which the Chicago-based National Alliance for Healthcare Information Technology formed in 2006 to tackle inefficiencies in the supply chain, will become members of GS1 Healthcare US workgroups.
Consolidating the organizations will eliminate redundancy of work and expedite adoption of standards, says Joe Dudas, who served as chair of the coalition and is director of accounting and supply chain Informatics at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.
