If one has a heart attack, this looks like the ultimate for a quick response in cooling imagedown the body.  Physio-Control is going to be launching the product in Europe so it looks like they will have it first.  The cooling system can be used in the hospital as well as in an ambulance and is battery powered.

The RhinoChill System – Nasal Catheter to cool the body after cardiac arrest

The cooling affect will help avoid brain damage in the case of a stroke or injury.  Use of the nasal cavity enables treatment by non-specialized medical personnel using non-sterile technique in any environment.  The unit can be carried in a back pack or mounted on an IV pole.  I can certainly see this being of use for emergency responses for heart attacks with one on the ambulance.  Also worth noting is that Physio-Control also works with wireless Airstrip iPhone software.  BD

Physio-Control and BeneChill will work together to launch the RhinoChill IntraNasal Cooling System in Europe. RhinoChill’s device distributes coolant via a catheter in the nose that lowers the body’s core temperature immediately following cardiac arrest, stroke or traumatic brain injury to help avoid brain damage.
