The merger of these 2 companies does make perfect sense.  For those physicians who have already been using e-Prescribing, this has been an issue with some of the mail order companies in accepting prescriptions in this fashion as well.  The retail locations seemed to be one up on their technology and from what I have been told from physicians using the service, it works well.  image

The only part needed to come together to make everything fluent and work together is the action of the DEA to allow e-Prescribing for controlled substances.  Once that is accomplished, this will hopefully bring everything full circle and hopefully provide the momentum and processes needed by physicians to advance and move in this direction.  BD

Everybody into the pool! The nation’s two big e-prescribing companies have merged to create a single network that includes most of the big prescription-drug middle men we can think of.

RxHub, a JV by the big pharmacy-benefit managers CVS, ExpressScripts and Medco, merged in a cashless transaction with SureScripts, which was operated by a group of retailers including Wal-Mart and Walgreen.  “The merger makes complete sense,” John Halamka, chief information officer of Harvard Medical School, told Dow Jones.
