If Memorial Care sounds familiar, they have been featured a couple times here at the Medical Quack with interviews and a walk through of their new Miller Children’simage Hospital a short while back.  The locations for  HealthExpress will be electronically tied to the hospital systems and the chain also works with Talbert Medical Clinics with the EPIC medical records system connecting the practice ambulatory system.   The hospital chain has had a couple self standing urgent care centers for a number of years, one of which I have gone to numerous times and is a block from where I live.   You can use the link below where I spoke with Dr. Leo from Long Beach Memorial on how their transition to electronic medical records was planned and implemented.

Last December I had the tour of the state of the art “green” Miller Children’s hospital from the CFO, so the new retail clinics somewhat show that Memorial is looking to further expand their offerings and they advertise quite a bit to, on television quite a bit here locally.

The clinics are not full service like their 2 free standing urgent care centers and are similar in nature as to what you see at CVS and Walgreens as far as what they can handle.  BD

Nurse practitioners will treat patients age 2 and up for minor illnesses, skin conditions and minor wounds, as well as vaccinations, school physicals and routine lab procedures, the company said in a statement. The clinics will be open seven days a week, and no appointment is needed.

Here are the addresses of the locations:

  • Huntington Beach: 7201 Yorktown Ave, 92648
  • Irvine: 14201 Jeffrey Road, 92620
  • Mission Viejo: 25872 Muirlands Blvd, 92691

All three clinics will be open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The clinics are the first of their kind offered by MemorialCare, which runs Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach, Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center in Fountain Valley and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills and San Clemente. Earlier this spring Saddleback-Laguna Hills was named one of the nation’s top 100 hospitals by the research firm Thomson Reuters.
