Officials at Allegheny General Hospital Suburban Campus near Pittsburgh have filed a notice with the state that its 344 employees could be laid off within 60 days.
The 106-year-old hospital, part of the West Penn Allegheny Health System, plans to close its emergency room and stop admitting patients in August. The facility will still offer outpatient radiology, laboratory, dialysis and imaging services, and an urgent care center will replace the emergency room.
The hospital is in Bellevue, just west of the city.
