Last Thursday I posted a video from Glen Beck and it looks like on Friday, Jon Stewart picked up on the same video from January 2008, so I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed this. Anyway, if you look at the current list of advertisers compared to those who have left the show, well the current list appears to be shrinking.

I’m surprised to see the Post Office still hanging in. Jon Stewart gives him a “tiny” break saying maybe he was on drugs, but I think we have a serious case of memory lapse here too, along with some of the other less than tasteful remarks and videos we have seen of late. Perhaps Mr. Beck should go to computer school and he could take Rush with him….from a previous post I made…it’s in the algorithms that work 24/7 that make the decisions and this is where the work and decision processes lay and we need laws that work in harmony with technology so they can be enforced and be “useful” to the citizens of the US,…hmmmm I have been talking a lot about “meaningful use” with Health IT, maybe that could be applied here to our healthcare reform laws too, “meaningful laws”? Just as technology functions with updates, the laws we pass today will need to be updated on a regular basis too, again, technology and laws need to work hand in hand, so we might as well start accepting “Congressional Updates” just as we do our “Windows Updates” soon (grin) as the work will never be done and will remain in a constant flux of upgrades and change. Unfortunately those who are talking and bringing all of this out of context appear to lack enough technology background to realize we are not living in that era and in turn are stirring up a lot of hurt and emotions needlessly. To those I say, go to computer school and learn how to write some algorithms and see how the decision making processes all work, you are showing your ignorance on how the world functions today and how laws and technology need to blend together, one of the reasons I promote those in positions of authority to have some IT knowledge so the public can be properly educated on what the real picture is instead of undue emotional conflict and at times using others as pawns. Intelligence and education will work to bring reform to fruition, not emotional ignorance and preying on those who have not had the opportunity to understand entirely how the world works today.

The advertiser pullout from Glenn Beck’s Fox News Channel show has gone from a trickle to a torrent, and Fox has been reduced to running “house” ads (spots for its own properties for which it receives no revenue).
According to the NY Daily News, these companies have stopped their ads on Beck: WalMart, GMAC Financial Services (Ally Bank), Best Buy, CVS and Travelocity. Tribble notes that Allergan and Broadview Security have also joined the boycott. Companies that previously yanked ads from Beck include: ConAgra, Roche, Sanofi-Aventis, RadioShack, Geico, Men’s Wearhouse, State Farm, Sargento, LexisNexis, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance and S.C. Johnson.
Advertisers remaining on the show — and thus on the boycott hit list — are: Honda, General Electric, Farmers Insurance, Office Depot, Nestlé (Gerber), Red Lobster, the U.S. Postal Service, and Wyeth.
