became part of Memorial Care in southern California. Goodwill is doing the training and the hospital benefits with newly trained employees. Certified nursing assistant graduates from Goodwill's Healthcare Training Program get work experience at Community Hospital.

Economic Recovery Act funding is responsible for putting the project together and the progress of the participants will be tracked for 5 years. This is good news as a couple weeks ago many teachers in the school district were laid off due to budget cuts but hopefully with the new federal funds, some may get to return. BD

Palencia joined hospital and Goodwill officials Wednesday to announce a health care training joint venture with Community Hospital, Goodwill and Long Beach Community Action Partnership.
The partnership will allow certified nursing assistant graduates from Goodwill's Healthcare Training Program to get work experience at Community Hospital.
Long Beach Community Action Partnership will underwrite the program using Economic Recovery Act funds it has received, said Ben Espitia, director of Workforce Development Goodwill SOLAC.
