This is one of those highly discussed areas and you can read comments all over the imageweb about yes it works or no it does not.  The fact that this press release says its is evidence based shows that it works for some people as an alternative to drugs.  Life is becoming one big algorithm for sure and my regular readers here I think by now realize this.  Where do we go for all our decision making processes – the computer and now this service will go further in-depth to the brain.

This type of service will teach the brain “how to behave” if you will.  Change is supposed to be seen almost immediately and a recommended session of 20 is touted.  Perhapsimage those folks on Wall Street could use this instead of pot and drugs.  It’s all about keeping us calm with neurofeedback.

Wall Street Employees Giving Up Cocaine for Pot and Pills–Downers and Not Uppers Are The New Addictive Choices

Here’s a video that explains the processes and what it can do provided by a company that offers this type of service as well.

Neurofeedback

Down in the OC of southern California we probably have issues that exist nowhere imageelse just simply due to the area and types of residents we have.  If you look at where this rehab center is located and the website, it’s like a paradise area to where you can go with selected programs.   Just like everything else out there today it’s the search for value so if one had an addiction problem or many of the other issues as stated in the video above, there could be value.  When looking at pills that modify our behaviors this could be worth a look.  It’s a matter of whether you get medicated or analyzed with algorithmic brain processes to help you function it seems.  Medications might be cheaper than some programs too, but again it’s up to the individual on finding value and what works.  Actually I have said this before and I will say it again in jest that over indulgence in analytics is in fact our up and coming next 12 step program <grin>.  BD

  3. Beware of Sovereign Health. The claims they make are from from what you may get in treatment. Our experience was that the programs were very disorganized, non-existant or both. Advisors were in short supply and often circumstances were absurdly out of control.
They will get a credit card from you prior to entering. It will be used from that point on for services rendered at MANY times the true value of the typical service.
Complaints in writing or verbalised by phone will NOT be answered, threats must be carried out with legal actions as the entire culture of the business is one with which you'll truly have to challenge.
Their star medical director, however, is Dr. Larry Snyder. He is one of the best you will ever find but again, beware of the rest of the program.
Check all other options before signing with Soverein and watch out for "Vicki." Not one to be trusted. More later.

  4. Sovereign health does NOT offer Bio / Neurofeedback, or any sort of pain mgt. program. I challenge anyone to walk in and ask for a demo of their services.

  5. After getting unsatisfied with many treatment centres, I really found Sovereign Health as one of the best treatment centres. The qualified staff & facilities made me recover so incredibly. The groups are very informative. But, also, kind of friendly – they don’t bore you to death – they talk about very applicable things for anybody who is looking to recover. It’s just great, it really is – I actually enjoy coming here.
I’m clean and sober. I’m definitely applying a lot of the tools that I have learned here, for sure, and just living life. I’m working, hitting on at least one meeting a day.

  6. I DO NOT recommend Sovereign Health! Please please look elsewhere!

  7. Sovereign health practices deceitful and pressure marketing towards needy, unsuspecting families and individuals desperate enough and looking for a treatment program for their loved ones. Vicky Hartman is a liar who will promise anything to lure people into giving her their credit card number or to write a check. This people are so unethical, they ask patients to sign a " power of attorney " giving them full authority to make financial decisions on behalf of the patient.
Tonmoy Sharma ( pictured) was kicked out of England for impersonating a doctor( see link)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1583475/BBC-psychiatrist-Tonmoy-Sharma-is-struck-off.html and will most likely be extradited within the next few days to face charges there.
Patients recently had a meeting with sharma and confronted him with a laundry list of problems which he promised to work on but as usual, he wants to drive his employees to work 60 hours a week for him and doesn't even give them health insurance. ALL of his employees are interns which means he does not pay for them and he rides on other people's licenses to make a living. Tonmoy Sharma is a narcissist who like he did in England, takes advantage of patients and families to make his money. I spoke to other people from India working there who are ashamed of him. This sick man will go on until someone neutralizes him.

  8. I found the same at Sovereign health. I am looking into sueing them. Right now I need to get something up on the web where we can all connect with eachother. Any ideas. My care was horrendous. I agree with all the negativety written above. See if they fraudulently billed your insurance company. They can be prosecuted for that. They harmed me. Did they harm you. Can we do a class action if all get together. I was not there for the patient meeting but boy I wish I was.

  9. Yes Vicki Hartman lied to me and did not reveal that certain services cost extra. She is only interested in making her commission. She practices deceitful marketing. Thank you for the information on Sharma. They are incompetent at treating eating disorders, ptsd, ocd. Don't go there for those issues no matter what. There are so many reputable treatment centers for those issues. Sovereign is really only a Drug and Alcohol Rehab but since I was not part of that section I have no comment on that. Some of the treatment they profess to have does not even exist. It is fraudulent advertising. I even have malpractice issues that took place. They were extremely disorganized and many of the employees are definately "State of The Art." The cognitive rehabilitation does not exist. Art therapy consists of making art-Period. Music therapy consist of picking a song, playing it and discussing why you picked it and how it makes me feel. Cognitive Laboratory consists of email, and researching the internet for personal affairs. How can we all connect to take legal action. Because as just one person it is not easy to sue for such matters or to get a lawyer to take your case. They want a winning case. How many others are disgruntled. It can't just be us on this site. Don't go to Sovereign unless you do not want to improve. They actually caused a decline in my mental condition. How can we all contact eachother. Maybe I can set up an anonymous email account and we can start by contacting other patients we have numbers of. I am contacting my insurance to look for fraudulent billing. I am making a complaint to the California Medical Board. Maybe we could get a newspaper in orange county to write an article. I have contacted two lawyers, and talked to my psychologist but so far it is determined that I was damaged by Sovereign but it's hard to win a case. I haven't looked into the fraudulent advertising yet just the psychiatric damage.

  10. I heard about Sovereign program through Treatment Solutions Network and its where my EAP had told me to go. It was still diagnosis and it had the whole homely feeling. Sovereign is you know just the right size as far as people and staff and so I hopped on a plane. I am from Connecticut I came all the way out to California. Sovereign definitely changed groups we have a lot more educational groups now like brain wellness and cognitive rehabilitation which I love the cognitive rehabilitation with Dr Cho. She always show some really good slides pretty much and she always has a good presentation that usually play like a really neat game but it is just cool to see how you know due to our addictions and whatever is that we have been going through whether its mental health, depression. The staff here is great and so friendly and is almost like your family.

  12. I worked for this place for a very short while and had to quit because I just couldn't stand behind the unethical practices with regard to marketing, meds, and treatment. I know of others who were patients who probably would want to start a class action law suit against Sovereign. I saw too much and it broke my heart each time I would see a patient leave with more anxiety and problems than when they came, all because of the hard nosed business of greed! One of my patients was attacked by another patient who was clearly a threat to the other patients and even lunged at a staff psychologist and scared her so much that she called the police. She allowed him back into the house, and I told my boss clearly that it was NOT a good idea that he be allowed back, as he needed a higher level of care and needed to be in a psych hospital setting. I told her it was a problem waiting to happen. The next weekend after he was allowed to come back he attacked another young patient in his sleep and broke the cartilage in his nose and bruised his collar bone and chest area, gave him a black eye and hit him in the head a few times. The way Sovereign management handled it was appalling to me, as this young man had NO ONE to advocate for him. He was a victim of a violent crime. He was suffering from PTSD waking up in the middle of the night if he heard a sound. The tried to make light of everything and acted like it was not a big deal. It sickened me as to the way they treated this young man. The young man that assaulted him can't be blamed as he was delusional, highly anxious and absolutely should not have been in a house setting!! I wrote a good letter to Ruth Lewis, who is the Director of Operations there and Sharma's right hand person, and I told her exactly what I thought of their unethical practices. She's as cold as they come and tries to come off so caring, but she was constantly at odds with the director of the house managers, coming down on her all the time, when half the time she wasn't even there. The meds problem is on going and no one seems to care. Sharma hires interns because he can get them cheaply, and I know there are only two people who are actually licensed who work at the clinic, the rest they contract out so they don't have to pay for insurance, etc. Vickie Hartman was very much to blame for lying to patients to get them there and I would listen to their complaints on a regular basis when they got there and it was nothing like they were told or even what is described on their web site. I hope and pray they are shut down soon and Sharma is kicked out of the US, along with Ruth Lewis. They should go back to the UK where they belong. They are lining their pockets with money taken from unsuspecting families who are in desperate need of care for their loved ones. They billed insurance companies for visits to the psychiatrist that never took place, blood panels that were not taken, etc. I hope the state gets back there to investigate them thoroughly!

  13. Sovereign Health was the best thing that ever happened to me. I was in desperate need of help and I never felt better in my life. The fact that I was away from home is not just the distance but you know the quality of care. Sovereign has given me the tools to support, the instruction, the care everything to address, understand and accept my disease. People, even folks that are not my doctors or not my therapist, they are always nice to me. I just feel like I have had a well rounded satisfying experience. I had a great time. Thank you Sovereign Health!

  14. When you first start the program they really help you to get in tune to who you are and to get adjusted to the people on the home and Sovereign Health facility center. You are under proper supervsison of your therapist. You can have visits with family members, significant others to help in your recovery process.

  15. I actually first heard about Sovereign Health through a close friend of ours. I was already clean and sober for a couple of weeks but I knew I needed a lot more therapy to have focused recovery. I think from the get go the frontline people Linda, Alejandra, Robin I was just very impressed with their, their kindness and patience I got mixed up with Dr Kelly and we have had a really good relationship. If you are there with the right mindset you are going to get a lot of growth because the people here really do care. I definitely recommend Sovereign Health, I just really appreciate the people here, even in mind of some other difficulties and frustrations and I am glad that I have had last 30 days to be here and took everything up to take forth in my recovery.

  16. I heard about Sovereign treatment center through my EAP (Employee Assistance Program) where I work. With the actual program, when I got here and then I started, the first week was revolutionary in my thoughts about a lot of things. I was learning so much, very quickly. The nutritionist totally made me look differently with my relationship with food. She would paint a lot of pictures and give us metaphors, which helped bring our heads back to normal. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy was very personalized. So we could talk about what was going on in my life, and I found that really helpful. The medical doctor, Dr. Snyder was revolutionary for me. I had never had a doctor who seemed to care so much about me as a person, especially not a medical doctor. He was very blunt, he was to the point sometimes, but I appreciated that. I have very positive feelings generally about most of the staff here, at Sovereign. I think that the first part is that they all care. For somebody who is planning to come in to Sovereign, I would give them advice. Just know that you are in good hands.

  17. I heard about Sovereign Health. I was there for my Eating Disorder, which I have known for a long time I needed help with. I didn’t realize that there were places like this that could help me, and so I was ready to come. My experience with the ED Program has been phenomenal. I have learned a new way to eat, live and be healthy that I never even knew existed. It has been amazing to learn what my body needs, how to eat the right portion size, and how to consistently feed the body this way. My primary therapist has been amazing in assisting me and giving me dead-on right assignments to build my self esteem, to look at the things about myself that I am not comfortable with, and why is that. We’ve really delved into some core issues that I have never got into before. I found the group sessions very helpful here. There are so many doctors walking around here and they know what they are talking about. And I received a whole lot of support from everybody on staff. Any time I had something going on in my mind I could talk to any one of them. They knew my case, knew what was going on with me, and they were able to help me find a way to deal with whatever I was going through. The home environment that we lived in was awesome. Thank you, now I have a life. I never thought that I can be healthy with food or even care about my body. I now respect my body and I love being healthy. So thank you.

  18. My daughter is currently at Sovereign. Katherine Hemmings is a liar, she told me nothing but lies about the facility where my daughter was staying. Its nothing like what is advertised on their website. My daughter wanted to give it a try so shes there right now. We will see how it works out but beware of what their website and staff tell you
